Resumen

Many researchers agreed the efficiency of carbon footprint methodologies to identify the key points in the supply chain, potential risks, and opportunities of improvement in a cost-effective manner in the design of sustainable supply chain. In the literature review some methodologies for calculating carbon footprint can be founded some of them applicable for determining greenhouse gases emissions throughout the supply chain of a given sector or organization demonstrating its usefulness for improving its sustainability. This paper examines the current methodologies and approaches developed to estimate carbon footprint in supply chains and the studies existing in the literature review about the application of these methodologies and other new approaches proposed by some authors.
