Implementation of Statistic Process Control in a Painting Sector of a Automotive Manufacturer
.
Resumen
The continuous improvement on quality of products and processes is a constant concern at organizations, as a response to growing competition and demands of the market. The implementation of statistical techniques adjusted to different situations is one way to achieve this goal. The application of traditional control charts requires, among other, that collected data are independent. However this is not always assured, reflecting a drastic increase of false alarms. This article presents a methodology for application of traditional univariate control charts, based on residuals, when data exhibit significant autocorrelation. Implementation took place in the painting process of an automotive company. Keywords: Statistic Process Control; Traditional Shewhart Control Charts; Autocorrelated Data; ARIMA Models
